i had the honour of photographing the funeral and celebration of the life of “khanum joon” who passed away on 15 July 2010. using the photographs from my canon rebel T2i camera, i created a video with music from the ceremony to bring to life the moments of the family coming together. (video has been compressed from HD to mpeg 4 to fit on vimeo website).

The full trailer for The Social Network, the highly anticipated film written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher that retells the origins of Facebook, has just landed. Buzz for the movie has been steadily building up for the last month as the studio released teaser trailers filled with dramatic music and punchy dialog — but no footage showing the actors. This latest trailer brings the goods, and the movie is looking pretty damn good.

The new trailer includes many of the same terse quotes we’ve been hearing in the teaser trailers — ”Is there anything that you need to tell me? — but with the footage to accompany them. As would be expected, the trailer is loaded with scenes of Jesse Eisenberg’s Zuckerberg (I especially like the last clip of him), Justin Timberlake’s Sean Parker, with appearances from the Winklevoss twins, Dustin Moskovitz, and more. The movie is slated for release October 1 2010.

For those who were wondering, the song is Scala’s version of Creep.

YouTube have just launched a new project called Life In A Day, a user generated campaign that will take HD video submissions filmed on July 24th, editing them to create a film that shows what that day looked like around the world. Interestingly, they’ve brought on Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald to direct and edit the film that will be premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

Anyone can contribute to the project and all you need to do is capture some HD footage on July 24 and then upload it on the official Life In A Day channel. I think the content of this documentary style film will be really diverse, but with guys like Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald, it should come out amazing. And even more interesting, is that YouTube are asking for the video content you capture to show no limits and be as creative, personal or random as you like…! Find out more info here.

yay! i have a new client and finished editing a promo video for the ‘unsw mba career services’. phew! they’re the #1 mba program in australia and 34th in the world. i used motion to do 3d animation of the logos and navigate through web browser. the video is available to watch. thanks guys!

richard branson’s autobiography is incredible! the king of virgin records, virgin airlines, and everything else virgin truely had the charisma, entrepreneurial flair and determination to make his impossible dreams come true. i’m on page 185 and can’t put the book down! 5 stars mate.

i watched “animal kingdom” in the cinemas, and loved it! thank you Australia, finally a film that’s a thriller and set in the city of melbourne. i enjoyed the slo-mo shots when they’re walking in the tunnels under the supreme court… but why do you always have the set designed out of something in 70s or 80s?!? it makes us look like poor backward people, in the sight of slick american blockbusters. i mean, the film is set in melbourne and based on a family who are rich drug lords. but they drive something like a commodore? congrats to the director and cast, i’m proud of you. it’s a tough film, but it’s real.
